The Green Family Scholarship was set up in 2007 to provide scholarships to study abroad at college and university for Bermudians with financial need. Too many Bermudians are unable to receive a higher education because they are unable to afford the fees so the Green Family Scholarship was set up to address this problem. No Bermudian should have to turn down the chance for a better life because they do not have the opportunity to further their education.
The Green Family has received so much from Bermuda over the years so they are grateful to be able to give something back. Over the years the Green Family has passionately supported educational causes around the world. The family have contributed new facilities at University College – Oxford, Rollins College, Middlebury College, University of St. Andrews and Brown University. Prospect College Jamaica, a full scholarship high school that was founded and is entirely funded by the Green Family, has been educating students for over 60 years.
The Green Family aims to award ten students each year with scholarships ranging from $5,000 to $10,000 for up to four years. Students studying fields considered important to Bermuda such as medicine, nursing, hotel and hospitality management, finance, insurance, solicitor, etc., will be given preference, but all applications will be considered.
Since inception the Green Family Scholarship has funded almost 100 students with over one million dollars in educational funding.
The Green Family Scholarship would not be possible without help of the Knowledge Quest Scholarship. The Knowledge Quest team have helped out with every aspect of setting up the Green Family Scholarship and the Green Family is eternally grateful for their continued support. Knowledge Quest was set up in 2001 to help Bermudians who have no other options left for higher education funding and has since helped dozens of Bermudians attend college and university. With the help of Knowledge Quest, the Green Family Scholarship hopes to one day reach its goal of allowing every Bermudian the chance to attend college or university.
